When your domain does not work

It says “Waiting for your DNS. Add these records at your domain provider; the domain shows your website only once they are in place.” Tsurito cannot see the records yet. Check these things:

  • The type. It must be the type Tsurito shows, such as CNAME or TXT.
  • The name. Some domain companies want the full name, such as www.yourbusiness.com. Others want only the first part, such as www. If one does not work, try the other. Use the copy buttons in Tsurito, so nothing is mistyped.
  • The value. Copy it exactly, with no spaces at the beginning or the end.
  • An old record. If another record has the same name, change it or remove it.
  • Time. Changes can take up to a day to reach the whole internet. Wait, and press “Check now” later.

If it still says the same after a day, write to us at hello@tsurito.com.

  • It says “Publish the site once, then connect a domain of your own here.” Publish the website first.
  • It says “A free website stays on our address. Publish it with your domain from Online, then connect the domain here.” The website needs a subscription first. Read Pay for a website.
  • It says “This website stops at its included domains, as its owner chose.” The website is set to stop at its limits. Let it carry on past the limit in “Online”, under “This month”, to add another domain for a small monthly price, or remove the one it has first.
  • It says “This website has as many domains as it can have.” A website can have up to 10 domains. Remove one first.
  • Check that you typed the domain without https:// and without a slash at the end. For example: www.yourbusiness.com.
  • Your email address may need confirming first. Open “Settings” and look under “Account”.
  • If your account is paused, you cannot connect a domain. Read Your account is paused or closed.

Your browser or your internet provider may remember the old website for a while. Wait an hour and reload the page. You can also try on your phone with mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

  • Check that the website’s subscription is active, in “Online”. When a subscription ends, the domain stops pointing to the website.
  • Check that the records are still at your domain company.
  • Check that your domain itself has not expired at the company where you bought it.
