Make your first website

When your assistant is ready, Tsurito asks “How would you like to begin?”. First, write the name of your business in “What is it called?”. Then choose one way:

  • “Start from a design”: pick one of our designs and make it yours. Read Start from a design.
  • “Bring my current site”: give the address of the website you have today, and your assistant rebuilds it here. Read Bring your WordPress site over.
  • “Start from a description”: say in a few sentences what your business is and what the website is for. Your assistant writes the first version.

Whichever way you choose, you can change everything afterwards by asking in your own words.

  1. Choose “Start from a description”.
  2. Describe your business. For example: “A small bakery in Girona, open since 1987, that wants people to order cakes for birthdays.”
  3. Press “Create the site”. Tsurito says “Preparing your website. This takes a minute the first time.”
  4. The website opens, and your assistant starts writing it by itself: the pages, the sections and the words. Tsurito says “Writing the first version” and how long it has been working. You can leave it open or come back later. Press “Stop” if you want it to stop.
  5. When it is done, Tsurito says “Your website is ready”.

Your assistant writes the first version from what you tell it. Where it does not know your details, such as your telephone or address, it writes clear placeholders for you to replace. So tell it the real facts:

  • what you do or sell;
  • who your customers are;
  • where you are, and your opening hours;
  • how people can contact you;
  • which language the website should be in.

A website can be in English, Spanish, Catalan or German.

Sometimes your assistant needs an answer before it goes on. You see “Your assistant needs an answer” with two or three options. Choose one, or write your own answer and press “Confirm”.

At the top of every website there are four tabs:

  • “Tasks”: where you talk to your assistant.
  • “Website”: your website, full size, as it is on your computer.
  • “Edit”: to change it yourself, with its “Pages”, what is “On every page”, its “Look” and its “Contact”.
  • “Online”: your address, your domains, your visitors, your versions and your subscription.

At the right, “Publish” puts it on the internet.

In “Tasks”, press “Website beside” to see the website next to the conversation.

Everything you make stays on your computer until you publish it. When you are happy, read Publish your website.

You can make as many websites as you like on your computer. Press “New website” to begin another one.
