Versions and going back
Every publication is a version
Section titled “Every publication is a version”Each time you publish, your website gets a new version: “Version 1”, “Version 2”, and so on. You find them in “Online”, under “Versions”.
Each version shows the day and time it was published. The one people see now is marked “Online now”.
How many versions are kept
Section titled “How many versions are kept”| Website | Versions kept |
|---|---|
| Free website | The latest one only |
| Website with a subscription | The latest 30 |
Older versions are removed at the next publication. They are marked “No longer kept”.
A free website says “This website keeps the latest version only.” So a free website cannot go back to an earlier version.
See an older version
Section titled “See an older version”Press “See it” next to a version. It opens in your browser, at a private address of its own. Search engines do not show these addresses.
Go back to an older version
Section titled “Go back to an older version”- Open “Online” and find the version under “Versions”.
- Press “Go back to it”.
- Tsurito says, for example, “People will see version 3 again. What is on this computer does not change.”
- Press “Go back to it” again to confirm.
The older version is online again at once. Your computer still has your latest work. The next time you publish, your latest work goes online again.
Bring an older version to your computer
Section titled “Bring an older version to your computer”To keep working on an older version, press “Bring to this computer” next to it. Then choose:
- “Bring it here”: the version replaces what is on this computer. What is here now stays in its history, and Undo brings it back.
- “Bring as a separate copy”: the version comes as a website of its own, beside the one you have.
What is online does not change until you publish.
Undo a change before you publish
Section titled “Undo a change before you publish”To undo a change on your computer, press “Undo the last change”. Read Change your website by talking.
